School grades can be a useful tool for assessing competence to some extent, as they provide a measure of a student's performance in various subjects. However, grades may not always accurately reflect a student's true abilities or potential, as they can be influenced by factors such as test anxiety, personal circumstances, or teacher bias. Therefore, while school grades can be a helpful indicator of competence, they should not be the sole measure used for assessment. Other methods, such as project-based assessments, standardized tests, and teacher evaluations, should also be considered to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of a student's abilities. **

Symbols that can be used for reflecting on and assessing children include checklists, rating scales, anecdotal records, and developmental milestones. Checklists can help track specific behaviors or skills, while rating scales can provide a more comprehensive assessment of a child's development. Anecdotal records allow for detailed observations of a child's behavior and interactions, while developmental milestones provide a framework for understanding typical developmental progress. These symbols can be valuable tools for educators and caregivers to assess children's strengths, areas for growth, and overall development. **
